Fatat Bahmad's life has been a constant pursuit of colors and shapes. Born in 1973 in Beirut, Lebanon, her family moved to Kfarmelki in Southern Lebanon when the civil war broke out. The nature and landscape of the village left a profound impact on her childhood. Fatat would often spend hours collecting colored buttons, pills, and threads to create artistic shapes.
After graduating from the Institute of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University in Beirut in 1994, Fatat began teaching art at schools while simultaneously pursuing her passion for painting. Her work is a reflection of her deep connection to nature and her obsession with flowers. Fatat considers nature as her first school, and Kfarmelki is the perfect place for living and working.
Influenced by Impressionism, Expressionism, and Fauvism, Fatat's paintings are a combination of all three. Her use of vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes is an expression of her pure emotions. Fatat's paintings are a recreation of her daily habits- where she sits, walks, and daydreams. Her works are often a source of joy and comfort.
Fatat has participated in several group exhibitions and art events in Lebanon, France, and Germany. Her paintings have found their way into art auctions, a testament to her unique and untraditional style.
